Free Infant Education and Childcare / 幼児教育・保育の無償化

As part of the importance of early childhood education that cultivates the foundation of personality formation and as one of the countermeasures against the falling birthrate to reduce the burden of early childhood education, childcare fees will begin to be free of charge in October, 2019.

• 3-5 years old children (all households regardless of income)
• 0-2 years old children in municipal tax-exempt households

The following facilities are free of charge

• Authorized childcare facilities (nursery school, certified child institution, kindergarten)
• Unauthorized childcare facilities, temporary childcare, sick childcare facilities
