    Heat stroke is a condition in which the body's water and salt balance is lost due to being in a hot environment, the thermoregulatory function does not work well, and the body is filled with heat.

    It is expected that the temperature will rise and the severe heat will continue.

    Elderly people, children, and people with disabilities are more likely to suffer from heat stroke, so special attention is required.

    Please know the proper preventive measures and prevent heat stroke. Also, be sure to eat and rest on a regular basis to build your body.

    How to prevent heat stroke

    ・Frequently rehydrate.

    ・Do not overdo it when it is hot.

    ・Use parasols and hats.

    ・Wear cool clothes

    ・Take a rest frequently.

    ・Use the shade.

    ・Measure temperature and humidity indoors

    ・Adjust the temperature with a fan or air conditioner.

    ・Be especially careful when you are not feeling well.

    Precautions when working

    1. Avoid working on days when you are not feeling well.

    2. Make sure to take a rest at regular intervals in the shade.

    3. Work with two or more people while checking each other's physical condition as much as possible.


    To prevent heat stroke, remove the mask depending on the situations.

    Scenes that do not require a mask

    ・When you can get enough distance from other people in the open air.

     ・To the extent that people pass each other outdoors when going out.

     ・When there is a distance of about 2 m indoors and there is no conversation.

     ・When exercising (both Indoors and outdoors)

     ・Preschoolers (both indoors and outdoors)

    About Heat Stroke Warning Alert

     A  "Heat Stroke Warning Alert"  will be issued on the day when the risk of heat stroke is expected to be extremely high.

    Please check the information about heat stroke frequently on TV and Heat Stroke Warning Alert Information (opens in a new window)別ウィンドウで開く of the Environment Agency.


    Precautions for heat stroke alert

    Symptoms of heat stroke


    1st degree (mild): dizziness, lightheadedness, myalgia, sweat does not stop.


    2nd degree (moderate): headache, nausea, tiredness (malaise), circulatory collapse.


    3rd degree (severe): unconsciousness, convulsions, high body temperature, strange response to the call, unable to walk straight, unable to run.



    Treatment when having heat stroke

    1. When conscious and reaction is normal

    Evacuate to a cool place → Take off clothes and cool the body → Replenish water and salt

    * If the person cannot drink water by oneself or if the symptoms do not improve, request an ambulance immediately.


    2. When unconscious or strange reactions

    Request an ambulance → Evacuate to a cool place → Take off clothes and cool the body → Transport to a medical institution.
