Subsidy to promote the installation of delivery boxes in Nagahama City 長浜市宅配ボックス設置促進補助金

As the budget amount has been reached, applications for the Nagahama Delivery Box Installation Promotion Subsidy at the end of 2023 have ended. Information regarding subsidies for 2024 will be released in March. Please note that delivery boxes eligible for the 2024 subsidy are those purchased on or after April 1, 2024.

Is there a relationship between delivery boxes and the environment?

It is said that about 50 years have passed since the current form of home delivery service started. However, due to the expansion of online shopping in recent years, there will be approximately 4.95 billion units in fiscal 2021, an increase of more than 50% compared to 2008. On the other hand, according to the survey results of October 2022, about 11.8% were redeliveries.

In most cases, redelivery is done using automobiles such as trucks. Approximately 10% of redelivery is equivalent to 60,000 drivers annually, the amount of CO2 emitted from trucks is estimated to be approximately 254,000 tons annually (estimated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in 2020).　Courier redelivery also places a burden on the global environment.

Therefore, from 2023, Nagahama city will issue subsidies for the purchase of a delivery box with the aim of preventing global warming by reducing carbon dioxide emissions by eliminating redelivery of parcels.

April 3, 2023 (Monday) to February 29, 2024 (Thursday)

※Subsidy may be closed as soon as the budget limit is reached.

1/2 of the purchase cost (tax included) (upper limit 5,000 yen ※Round down to less than 1,000 yen)

[Example 1] 4,200 yen (purchase amount) ÷ 2 = 2,100 yen → 2,000 yen subsidy

[Example 2] 12,000 yen (purchase amount) ÷ 2 = 6,000 yen → 5,000 yen subsidy amount (maximum 5,000 yen)

Expenses required for purchase and installation of delivery boxes

1 Those who reside in the city and are recorded in the city's basic resident register on the date of application.

2 Those whose other household members do not receive this subsidy

3 When applying for subsidies, those who have not failed to pay city tax and national health insurance premiums (taxes) that are due.

1 The package must be able to be safely stored.

2 To prevent theft, measures must be taken to prevent easy movement.

3 A delivery box must be installed in the same premises or building as the address of the person who is going to receive the subsidy.

4 Must be new. (Second-hand items/self-made items are not allowed)

5 If the site or building where the delivery box is to be installed is not owned by the user, consent to the installation has been obtained from the owner.

6 Delivery boxes purchased and installed after April 1, 2023
