Notice regarding the use of health insurance cards from December 2, 2024

Using your health insurance card
With the integration of health insurance cards and My Number cards, the current health insurance cards (insurance cards) will no longer be issued, and the system will change to one based on medical treatment using a My Number card (My Number insurance card) that has been registered as an insurance card. If you have a My Number insurance card, please use it at the counter of a medical institution or pharmacy. In principle, your current insurance card and limit application certificate can be used without change until their expiration date of July 31, 2025 (only if there are no changes to eligibility information such as address, counter payment ratio, etc.).

Those who do not have a My Number health insurance card
If you enroll for the first time on or after December 2, 2024, or if your eligibility information has changed, you will be issued a "Qualification Confirmation Certificate" that can be used in the same way as an insurance card. In addition, we will send you a qualification confirmation certificate by mail every July, which can be used from August 1 without the need for application.

Those who have a My Number health insurance card
If you enroll for the first time on or after December 2, 2024, or if there are changes to your eligibility information, you will be issued a "Eligibility Information Notification (Notice of Eligibility Information)" listing your eligibility information. Please present the notification along with your My Number Health Insurance Card at medical institutions etc. that do not accept patients with My Number Health Insurance Cards. However, you will not be able to visit a medical institution etc. by presenting only the notification. The contents of the notification can also be viewed on My Number Portal.

Handling of limit application certificate

For those with a My Number Health Insurance Card
By agreeing to "display of limit information" at the medical institution counter, you can display limit information. (Note that limit information will not be included in the qualification information notification (qualification information notice).)
※However, you will still need to apply for certification for long-term hospitalization.

For those who do not have a My Number Health Insurance Card
If you require a certificate of limit application (reduction in standard charges), etc., one will be issued upon application.
