Cleaning of sewage inlets is up to each household.
A home's drainage system mainly consists of drainpipes and a "sewage inlet." Among these, a sewage inlet designed to collect rice grains, vegetable scraps, cooking oil, and other waste from the kitchen is called an "odor-proof tank" or “clean masu.”
Household sewage gets clogged and won't drain...
This is often caused by improperly cleaning the odor-control inlet. Odor-control inlets are easy to spot, as they are located near the kitchen, always contain water, and have a curved vinyl pipe inside.
Please check your home's odor-control inlet in advance, and clean it about once a month using a net and scoop.

Example of cleaning an odor-proof tank

Odor-proof tank
This is an odor-preventing drain, about 30cm in diameter, located just outside the kitchen. The shape may differ in apartment buildings.
Open the first access hole that leads from the kitchen sink to the outside of the house (it may also be inside).

Dirty Odor-proof tank
This tank hasn't been cleaned in about three months. Clean it once a month.

Odor-proof tank cleaning
Use a net or ladle to scoop up oil and other dirt and place it on newspaper (if there is a basket, place any trash that has accumulated in the basket on the newspaper as well).
Drain the water, dry it, and dispose of it as combustible waste.
After cleaning, use a hose to rinse away the dirt, fill the bin with water, and close the lid.
Cleaning is complete.
